Crocheting for Beginners Part 2: How to Double Crochet

How to double crochet AKA DC

Row 1: 20 chain stitches

Row 2: Yarn over and place hook in 2nd chain from hook. Insert hook, pull yarn through (3 loops on hook), yarn over and pull yarn through 2 loops (2 loops on hook), yarn over again and pull through the remaining 2 loops on the hook. You've just made a DC stitch. Hurray! Repeat until you get to the end of the row.

Row 3: You will need to chain 2 (counts as 1st DC stitch), flip work to other side and repeat row 2 in 2nd chain from hook. Repeat until the end of the row. Count and make sure that you have 20 total stitches throughout.

In order to make a simple, easy scarf all you have to do is repeat row 3 until desired length of scarf. That’s it! J

Happy Crocheting!
